For people with disabilities like my brother, the world is scary enough, but when you have someone like Hilary who makes you feel "normal" and is compassionate and caring, it helps to ease your fears 100%.
My brother suffers from Cerebral Palsy. He is non-verbal and requires a wheelchair. All of his everyday needs require complete assistance. From day 1, hour 1, Hilary treated him with complete respect and dignity. Every and anything given/done to him was explained in simple, easy terms he could understand. Hilary took the time to know his needs. He was checked on and turned every 2 hours. He was cleaned and changed every time he was sweaty, threw up, or wet. When his stomach was distended beyond belief and he was extremely uncomfortable, his BP dropped very low. Phone calls and pagers were ringing. Hilary called multiple numbers to try and locate his doctor or the doctor on call. She checked in on him even more frequently. I could not have asked for or paid for the kind of care she gave him. All his needs and wants were met and exceeded. Hilary went above and beyond her call to ensure my brother had the best possible care. If she does not receive this Award, she has already won in our eyes.
