Hilda was the first nurse that I remember meeting. She was so comforting and understanding. She helped clean me up and provided information on recovery. She would even give me updates. She put me first and helped me in every way. She never sounded annoyed. I remember her coming in one morning to draw blood and turning on a small light. I told her that she could turn on the other lights, but when she saw my husband sleeping, she made a point to not wake him. She drew my blood without much light, and I didn't feel a thing. I was so impressed.
Hilda made sure that I had everything I needed. She also treated my husband like he was a patient. She was making sure he had blankets and water. When she left that morning, we counted down the hours until she came back. When she returned, she greeted me with the biggest hug and asked how I was doing and if I needed anything. She took the time to sit and talk to us, which made us feel really at home. She acted like we were the only patients there. She felt like a family member by the time I left. I could go on and on about this amazing person.
Hilda is sweet, caring, welcoming, genuine, and hilarious. You can just feel and see that nursing is her passion. She deserves the world and I could not thank her enough for everything she did, but most importantly, for her personality and the way she did it.
