Holly consistently demonstrated steadfast care and emotional support to our mutual patient.
I have been a Registered Nurse myself for 36 years. I was at Deaconess Medical Center with a patient that I was working with at Eastern State Hospital. The patient went to Deaconess to have her labor induced. Holly was the patient’s nurse on several nights that I was at the hospital with my patient. From the moment I met Holly, I knew she was someone special. She was so kind and welcoming, as well as knowledgeable about her area of expertise. She explained things to my patient, who suffers from mental illness, in a very kind and respectful manner. She demonstrated outstanding patience when the patient was having difficult times. I watched Holly with admiration related to her knowledge and passion for her work.
The situation with my patient was challenging and quite emotional as she was not going to be leaving the hospital with her baby. Holly consistently demonstrated steadfast care and emotional support to our mutual patient. It was evident that Holly is respected by her colleagues. Knowing that the patient would be leaving without her newborn baby, Holly went above and beyond and brought a large Teddy Bear for the patient to hold for comfort. This meant so much to the patient who is now back in the hospital where I work. She continues to hold onto the Teddy Bear each night as she sleeps. In my 36 years as a nurse, I have come across a handful of nurses with Holly’s level of compassion and integrity. She is truly one in a million.
