She is by far the most caring, attentive, and best nurse I have ever had the luck of treating me. She was truly amazing and never made me feel like I was a burden while caring for me.
I came into the ED due to having some pretty severe pain in my lower back (history of kidney stones and infections) and was greeted by my nurse, Holly B within minutes of being taken to a room. She had a big smile on her face and was so kind and attentive. She took her time with me, did not rush through questions or my exam, and actually took time to talk and laugh with my daughter, who was with me. She asked if I had a preference for an IV site, and when I showed her the vein that had been most successful in the past, she was able to get the IV started on her first attempt (which is very rare because I am an extremely hard stick and I’ve had other nurses not even look when I tell them because it’s not an easy angle). I ended up having quite a large kidney stone on my left side, and the doctors decided it would be best to have me transferred to one of their hospitals to have surgery…Holly checked on me constantly and did everything she could to make sure I was as comfortable and in as little pain as possible.
The weather wasn’t the best (stormy and heavy rain), and it was getting pretty late for my 17-year-old daughter, so when the weather let up (or so we thought), I went ahead and told her to go on home. Holly made sure to tell her goodbye in the hallway and came to check on me. Well, then it started to storm hard again, and Holly told me if my daughter needed to come back in, she was absolutely welcome, that she would get her blankets to make her comfortable and make her food if she was hungry!! Melted my heart!! My daughter did make it home safely, and Holly came back to my room to specifically ask if she made it home and told me that she had been thinking about her and just wanted to check. I’ve never had a nurse show so much compassion, attention, and care towards myself or my family.
Even though I was feeling absolutely miserable and did not get transported till after 5 am the next morning, Holly made my time in her care so much better. She is by far the most caring, attentive, and best nurse I have ever had the luck of treating me. She was truly amazing and never made me feel like I was a burden while caring for me. The fact that she made sure to check up on my daughter to make sure she was safe was above and beyond her job responsibility!! She is truly one of a kind!! Thank you, Holly B, for all you did and all that you continue to do for your patients.
