My grandmother passed away with her husband of 65 years holding her hand because Holly was quick to make sure my grandfather knew what was happening.
Holly was the nurse for my grandmother, on the night she passed away. Grandma’s passing was fairly sudden for us, and she was in severe pain towards the end. Holly made sure to treat my grandmother’s pain each time she was able to administer medication. She also found some food for my grandfather when he refused to leave my grandmother’s bedside because he knew she didn’t have long to live and wanted to keep her company and soak up all the time he had left with her. When Grandma’s heart rate dropped and Holly knew the end was near, she rushed into my grandmother’s room to wake my granddad so he could kiss her goodbye and hold her hand as she passed peacefully away. I’ve never seen one of my grandparents without the other, and they were almost always holding hands. My grandmother passed away with her husband of 65 years holding her hand because Holly was quick to make sure my grandfather knew what was happening. Holly called me within minutes of Grandma dying to let me know what happened and to get someone to come be with my grandmother. I heard Holly choking on her tears when she told me about the peaceful, loving way my grandfather spoke of my grandmother and loved on her. Holly was there for each of us when we came to say goodbye and be there for my granddad. From an RN with high expectations, I was thoroughly impressed with the Holly and the rest of the 4th floor staff!
