Hope is especially extraordinary when caring for our antepartum patients in LDRP. She goes above and beyond to make them feel comfortable and supported in one of the scariest times in their lives. Some of our antepartum patients are subjected to very long stays on LDRP to prevent pre-term deliveries.
This patient had been in and out over a couple of months, forced to be away from her children and husband for weeks on end all during a pandemic. One morning Hope noticed that this patient's demeanor was getting worse and was acting very depressed. To cheer this patient up, Hope created a countdown of days out of paperchain links so the patient could break a chain every day as she got closer to her due date. This greatly improved this patient's demeanor because she could visualize see how close she was to being free and able to deliver.
Hope went beyond her duties that day to make this patient feel supported. I'm so thankful that this patient had Hope as her nurse that day, it truly made a difference.
