Hope consistently demonstrated patience and compassion, ensuring my mom's comfort throughout her stay.
I am writing to nominate Hope and Brittany for the DAISY Award.
Hope provided exceptional care to my mom during her stay, and her kindness and dedication left a lasting impression on our entire family.
My mom was admitted due to pancreatic cancer and was in an extreme amount of pain. Hope consistently demonstrated patience and compassion, ensuring my mom's comfort throughout her stay. She responded quickly whenever called to the room and provided exceptional medical care. Hope made sure my mom always had meals ordered and delivered to her room, even though she knew my mom wasn't eating. This thoughtful gesture showed her commitment to my mom's well-being.
One of the most challenging aspects of my mom's care was managing her medication. Hope remained extremely calm and patient, even when my mom resisted taking her medication. Her gentle and understanding approach made a significant difference during these difficult moments.
Hope was being trained by Brittany, who was with her most of the time. Brittany was always kind and supportive to our family. They took the time to answer all our questions and made us feel comfortable during our visits. Brittany's offers to bring blankets and a cot for overnight stays were thoughtful and appreciated.
One day, Brittany sat with me for almost 45 minutes, comforting me and sharing her own family's experiences with cancer. This personal connection meant a lot to me, showing that Brittany not only cared deeply but could also relate to what we were going through.
Hope's exceptional care, kindness, and dedication to her patients make her an outstanding nurse and a deserving candidate for the DAISY Award. Her compassion and professionalism provided comfort and support to both my mom and our family during a very difficult time.
Brittany is dedicated to educating fellow nurses and making sure that not only the patient is comfortable and knows what is going on but also the family.
It was hard for all of us not to be able to stay with Mom the whole time during her visit, but we knew she was in good hands when these two were her nurses.
Before mom was discharged from St. Luke's, she asked me multiple times to send this nomination for these two. Mom has since passed on, and a huge hole has been left in our family. We like to reflect that before she was transferred to hospice, she received excellent medical attention from the nurses at St. Luke's.
Thank you for considering Hope and Brittany for this prestigious recognition.
