Hunter was my husband's nurse while he was on the 6th floor during his 45-day stay at Blanchard Valley Hospital. From the moment we met him, Hunter was a very caring and empathic nurse who went over and beyond the call of duty to make my husband feel hopeful. He was extra attentive to the details of J's care, giving us and our family confidence that he was getting the best of care. Hunter listened and communicated with empathy and respect, getting to know J as his patient and as a man. Even though my husband was much older and in need of much care, Hunter treated him kindness and respect. Hunter was always positive and uplifting, reassuring J and encouraging him to do all he could to get better, even when the pain was unbearable, and the future seemed uncertain. Hunter touched not only J's life but the lives of our family as well. His positive approach and his confidence and reassurance, along with his optimistic attitude, were contagious. Hunter would often say things like," I've got you" and "I'll check on you often," which made us feel safe and secure. When possible, he listened to J's memories and jokes and may have even shared a couple of his own. When J was moved to another floor during his stay, Hunter found the time to drop in and visit him. In summary, Hunter is a personable and compassionate nurse. He was kind and impactful, making J feel as though he was his favorite patient. All in all, Hunter is a great nurse with extraordinary nursing skills and mannerisms. I love that he feels like family!
