I would like to recognize ER RN Hunter Gray for the DAISY Award after taking exceptional care of my son when an accident turned into an ER visit.  Hunter was very professional and did his best to keep my son calmed down as he was cleaning up the blood all over his body, he got him a pediatric patient gown (which my son loved), and explained to him everything that was going to happen to keep him calm.  I was in "mom" and not "healthcare professional" mode, so due to the initial severity of the situation, he was very professional at doing his job and keeping us calm.  What makes this situation special is that Hunter is taking care of his Godson.  I am fortunate to work alongside Hunter in the ER on occasion, and I watch him take care of each of his patients with such kindness and gentleness -- and he treated his nephew just the same.  He wasn't "Uncle Hunter" in this situation, he was "Hunter the ER nurse".

Another patient reported that Hunter went beyond his duties to make sure she was comfortable getting her warm blankets and repositioning her any time she called with a smile on his face.  She was even more impressed later that night when his shift was over, and he came back in to work when the department was busy.  She couldn't say enough kind words about Hunter with his kind personality and great work ethic!
