Hussien provided outstanding nursing care, fulfilling all the requests of my brother, which helped overcome the tension and create a pleasant atmosphere.
My brother is newly diagnosed with testicular cancer, and he also has a special need resulted from a genetic disorder. Therefore, he needs more care and attention. He prefers to stay at home most of the time and does not communicate with people. He was very close to my father; may God have mercy on him, who died after suffering from colon cancer. The loss of our father had a great impact on the well-being of my brother. As a result of all these circumstances, the amount of suffering was tremendous, especially the psychological distress. Our belief as a family is that taking into account the psychological aspect and taking care of it for patients with cancer is a priority because it contributes mainly to the treatment of the disease.
When my brother began his treatment journey at the King Hussein Cancer Center, signs of stress and discomfort appeared on him with each visit to the center. When we had an appointment for a particular medical procedure, he had insomnia and could not sleep for two days before the appointment. My mother and I accompanied him to do a CT scan requested by his physician, which was decided to be performed under general anesthesia considering his medical status. My brother was very nervous, this situation reflecting poorly on me, my mother, and the family.
The nurse Hussien was there in the Day Case Unit. Hussien received my brother, relieved the tension that was evident on him, and dealt with him wonderfully. Hussien provided outstanding nursing care, fulfilling all the requests of my brother, which helped overcome the tension and create a pleasant atmosphere not only for our patient but also for us as a family that accompanies the patient. Hussien has a high sense of humanity that helped my brother respond to all instructions that precede the medical procedure. They talked together, and a smile was on my brother's face, expressing his satisfaction with dealing with such a great nurse. The impact that nurse Hussien left on us was very positive, and it was a more than wonderful experience. It removed my brother's fear with each visit to the KHCC and with every requested medical procedure. Hussien touched many things inside my brother through his distinguished care that is not hidden from anyone.
My nomination of nurse "Hussein" for this award is thanks to all the distinguished nurses at the King Hussein Cancer Center. They treat their patients with the utmost respect and professionalism, which gives the psychological aspect of nursing care great attention. Thank you, Hussein, for all this compassion, cooperation, and outstanding treatment.
