For them to remember after 8 months that Mr. P loved Frank Sinatra was a testament that Team Modi cares for their patients as if they were family.
Our BMDA Interventional Pulmonology team has experienced tremendous growth in the last two and a half years. In this time, they have consistently collaborated with each other and their peers to develop processes and workflows that adequately address our patient's physical needs, while maintaining a holistic mindset. Just one of the many services they have developed for our patients is the ability to have their thoracentesis performed in the clinic setting. This not only saves the patient time but also allows them to have the procedure done by a team they know and are comfortable being around.

Below is just one patient story that truly highlights how awesome this team works together to ensure our patients receive high-quality and compassionate care: On Tuesday Team Modi informed me they had a thoracentesis scheduled for patient Mr. P and invited me to join them in order to complete their annual competency check-off. Little did I know, I was about to be witness to one of the most compassionate, patient-centered interactions I have been blessed to see in my nearly 28 years in the medical field. Mr. P was prepped for the sterile procedure, which was no easy task considering challenges related to his advanced age. He has had this procedure performed previously with Team Modi in 2021 but we understand that this procedure does not come without some degree of anxiety. The team remembered from his last visit that he enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra, so the music was queued and we were serenaded with the sweet sounds of Mr. P featuring Sinatra! For them to remember after 8 months that Mr. P loved Frank Sinatra was a testament that Team Modi cares for their patients as if they were family.

Mr. P’s son has many of the same sentiments. Here are his remarks on the Listen360 survey: 'Dr. Modi is obviously very skilled, but also empathetic. He was respectful and kind to my father, as was the entire nursing team. They went above and beyond to put my father at ease, even playing his favorite music after the procedure for him. (Sinatra, which of course prompted him to sign along). As a medical professional myself, I know first-rate and compassionate care when I see it. If all other health facilities could meet this standard, the world would be a much better place. Kudos to all.'

The BMDA Interventional Pulmonology team is a true DAISY Team.
