Here are two of the 23 Nominations for Irina Kozakova:
~1: I have personally known Irina Kozakova since 1998 when I transferred to the OR as a staff nurse. Years later, I now have the privilege of working with her in my new role as the Asst. Director of Nursing of Peri-operative Services.
Irina is a very special nurse and person. I find her to be constantly pleasant, professional in her field and tackling all assignments with dedication and a smile. On top of being a delight to work with, Irina is a take-charge professional who is able to present innovative ideas and communicate with patients for their benefit and health. Irina has proven to posses the knowledge and the ability to execute basic nursing duties and responsibilities included in the scope of nursing practice.
When patients are having surgery, it is a very stressful time. Irina calms their nerves with her compassionate and caring way. For example, surgeons request her to work in their room and anesthesiologists love when she works in their room because she makes the room flow and run smoothly. The scrub technician looks up to her and respects her. Irena is a role model for the staff; new orientees love to be precepted by her. She is a leader. She has a positive attitude and demonstrates professionalism. She encompasses energy and is enthusiastic about collaborative patient care and meeting challenging goals in the field of nursing. When cases run late she volunteers to finish the cases because of her concern for the patients’ and their families. Irina uses a holistic approach with patients’ she makes sure to be culturally sensitive. She exemplifies the essence of the DAISY Award.
~2: I have worked in OR’s for over 3 years and Irina is one of the finest people and nurses I have been privileged to work with. She is caring, compassionate and totally aware of all parts of the procedure. She always has a warm blanket for the patient in a cold room and always has the equipment ready when you need it in the case of an emergency is needed and stays calm. When I had my knee surgery, I asked for her as my nurse. When I needed (a procedure), she came with me and the surgeon, and had everything we needed, including making sure my surgeon had used enough local anesthesia. Irina does all this with a very pleasant demeanor that makes everyone comfortable. I would encourage the nominating committee to endorse Irina for the well deserved award.
