Isabelle is always working as part of the team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
For the past 8 years, Isabelle has been a loyal and engaged RN at Pen Bay Hospital. Even though other area hospitals would probably love to have her and her expansive experience, Isabelle continues to show up every day to Pen Bay and be there for her team and patients. And she does this with a beautiful and authentic smile on her face!
As part of the Central Staffing Resources team, Isabelle works with diverse patient populations from MSU to the ER to SCU to OB to PARC while also covering as House Supervisor whenever shifts are available. During an unanticipated recent April snow and ice storm, Isabelle covered as House Supervisor and was able to communicate effectively and succinctly to the CNO and AOC, navigating linen availability and staffing challenges throughout her shift. Isabelle collaborated with each departmental Charge RN to ensure patients and staff were supported and encouraged.
Isabelle is everything you would want in a Staff Nurse, especially one who works in the Float Pool and covers so many different areas. From assisting with delivering babies in OB to riding with EMS to transport a decompensating patient from MSU at Pen Bay to Maine Medical Center, Isabelle is always working as part of the team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Isabelle covers Charge RN shifts, weekend staffing needs, and flips to cover nightshift when she is able. Isabelle is also certified as a CMSRN, a prestigious professional certification through the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses, which she proudly attained in 2022. She is a Preceptor and has advanced almost to the top of the Clinical Ladder, mentoring other nurses to do the same.
Isabelle always strives for excellence and demonstrates this through her willingness to go above and beyond with education. She has completed and maintained STABLE and NRP certifications to be able to take care of OB patients and babies. She will sometimes work 2-3 areas during her 12-hour shift – Starting in SCU, then moving to the ER to take care of bedded inpatients, then following those patients to MSU when beds become available. Isabelle makes her team and her patients her number one priority during her day, and this is evidenced by her continued dedication year after year.
Isabelle is also a true nurse advocate, especially when she is working as House Supervisor or covering in a clinical area where she may be the most tenured nurse. She listens to the nurses, and she takes action to ensure the best decisions in the moment are made. Isabelle is also a patient advocate. For example, as previously mentioned, when a patient needed to be transported to MMC and needed a nurse to travel with him via EMS, Isabelle immediately volunteered to assist and spent the next 4 hours ensuring this patient was safely transported to a higher level of care. Upon return, Isabelle took two new admissions from the Emergency Department and was recognized by her Charge RN for being a true team player. No matter where Isabelle is working, the feedback is always positive and thankful. A new grad RN stated, “Isabelle is the type of nurse I want to be when I grow up.”
