This nurse created an experience that not only led to my best possible outcome but also helped resolve potential medication errors and alleviate my anxiety regarding my care, stemming from my health history. She addressed my concerns as soon as she arrived on the unit, discussing medication dosage, timing, and follow-up for symptom management. My health condition typically takes precedence during my admissions and has often been misunderstood in the past, causing anxiety that impacts my recovery.
The timing and dosage of my medication are critical for maintaining optimal function. She ensured that she paid careful attention to the timing and details for every dose, even though the medication needed adjustment. The way the medication was delivered from the pharmacy could have led to a medication error, and I was worried about the possibility of taking too high a dose, which could worsen my symptoms.
She took the initiative to speak with my physician when he was at my bedside, showing him the medication and alerting him to the risk of a dose error. The physician then contacted a pharmacist to correct the delivery to my specific dosage, which significantly reduced my anxiety about taking the medication. She went above and beyond to exceed my expectations and built a strong sense of trust.
Throughout my stay, she consistently checked in to ensure my symptoms were not worsening, especially considering my history. She reassured me that her handoff to the next shift would include as many details as possible and that my next nurse would be excellent.
I have never felt as relaxed and confident in my care as I did with her starting this journey. The care I received for the rest of my admission was exceptional, only improving thanks to the confidence she established when I arrived on the unit.
