Ivy was taking care of a woman who had been admitted to the ICU after being assaulted. She had suffered scalp lacerations, and her hair was matted with blood and debris. Ivy washed her hair, then walked downstairs to the retail pharmacy and bought detangling spray with her own money to comb out the patient's knots. What a lovely, generous, kind gesture! I was proud to have witnessed it.

She went beyond her duties to care for me when I had CHF, contacting my family and so on. I came in unconscious on a ventilator; she provided excellent care when I was unconscious and then again when I became conscious. She went the extra mile to fix my hair before I left for the heart failure unit.
