My mother has congestive heart failure and was sent to the ED to be admitted for a prearranged procedure to remove fluid from her body, monitor her blood count, and keep an eye on her electrolytes. When we arrived on the 3rd floor, we were immediately greeted by Jackie with a big smile. She quickly won over two very unhappy campers. Within minutes, we knew we were in the best possible place! She comforted my mother with warm blankets, as she was still cold from being in the ED. She was a welcome change to us, both mentally and physically. Jackie is a 5-star nurse! We were so lucky to have her four nights in a row. It was like seeing an old friend for the first time in a long time when she arrived each night.

It was a celebration. In our opinion, she was the perfect caregiver. She was always friendly, focused, calm, and collected but worked at a superhuman pace. She knew my mother was exhausted and did her best to coordinate meds, vitals, and blood tests into fewer sessions to allow her to get more rest. She did everything in her power to make us comfortable by arranging for us to get a recliner, extra pillows, and more warm blankets. She will always be remembered for many reasons, but any time my mom had to get into a hospital bed, she shared hints and tricks to help her along. Jackie always made time for whatever we needed. She even stopped by after her shift was over just to check in with us. We are so thankful to have met her along our journey. If nursing ever starts to use AI, she would be the perfect nurse to emulate!
