Jacob listens with an open heart
Jacob Alexander, RN, is an outstanding Nurse. He not only knows how to do the job but does it well. He is the first one to help out if there is an emergency, whether that may be a sick patient or someone that is upset.
One day I witnessed Jacob go talk to a patient who was clearly in a mental crisis, this patient was not contracted for The Everett Clinic so could not be seen as a patient, but Jacob sat down and talked with this young man for some time, helped calm him down and got him to the emergency room where he needed to be seen. Any other person would have just called 911 and let them handle it, but Jacob went above and beyond to make sure the patient felt heard and was safe. This was one example of many that Jacob has done with going above and beyond with patients.
Jacob always seems to know what is going on with all the patients in the clinic at all times. Unafraid to let me know if he has concerns about something happening with a patient and speaks up for his patients. Jacob makes appropriate suggestions and clinical decisions without fail. Whenever I am working with him, I can breathe a bit easier knowing he is on my team. His ability to stay calm and put the patients in his care at ease is truly a gift.
Jacob listens with an open heart not only to patients but to staff as well. I have heard him listen to staff complaints and given level-headed advice, always supporting and never judging. He has a level head and an open ear.
His compassion for this job does not go unrecognized. He shows his leadership and dedication to the Walk-In Clinic by teaching staff on his downtime as well as always willing to lend a hand to help even if it's not his department. He asks questions and always wanting to learn and will admit when he makes a mistake which makes the best kind of Nurses in my opinion. The clinic is lucky to have such a strong dedicated Nurse like Jacob. He is a true benefit to The Everett Clinic.
