Mrs. Brumley came to the Trident at a time that this clinic needed a firm, honest, trustful, and encouraging leader, and she brought all these things plus more. She was new to the area and new to this VA. She saw the potential that Trident had and worked so hard to bring us to the high functioning clinic that we are now. Trident's success is due to her drive and dedication to her staff and the care we give to our Veterans.
Mrs. Brumley is a role model for her staff. She shows her staff what it means to work hard and always do what is right. She is always available to her staff and developed an open-door policy that allows her staff to feel comfortable at any time to speak with her. Staff are never afraid to share and discuss issues or concerns with her. Staff have developed a great professional relationship with her and know that she has their best interest at heart. She is loyal to her staff and will take up for them when they need it. Mrs. Brumley is a fair and honest leader as well. There is no favoritism among her staff. Staff are all treated equally, and all given the same opportunities to excel and do extra things for our Veterans.
The one thing that I feel sets Mrs. Brumley apart from others is the level of encouragement she provides to her staff. Mrs. Brumley is always doing team-building exercises, promoting unity for the clinic and encouraging us to participate in extra things at the clinic or the VA. She is always asking for volunteers to represent the great work that we do at Trident every day. She makes sure that staff have all the tools they need to succeed and provide the best care for our Veterans. Her primary focus is for her staff to provide the highest level of care and compassion to Veterans. She ensures this happens by standing by her staff and encouraging them to succeed. I can only hope that all nurse managers have the dedication Mrs. Brumley has to her staff and the Veterans we serve!
