Everything was a blur, and I was a mess at the thought of being so close to losing my dad. Through all of the chaos, I distinctly remember Nurse Jackie giving information, checking charts, running supplies, and still taking the time to stop and give me a much-needed hug amidst the madness.
I brought my dad into Urgent Care with the expectation of a potential viral infection diagnosis and hopefully some fluids... while sitting in the waiting room, I looked up and noticed my dad's eyes roll back in his head, he went stiff, started shivering, and his breathing changed... I jumped up and yelled for help, I thought he might be having a seizure, I had never seen him like this. I was panicked and calling for help, then suddenly, Nurse Jackie was there administering sternum rubs, checking vitals, calling to my dad, and calling for backup, all while trying to calm my panic attack. She got him back to us in that waiting room... She saved him right in front of me in what seemed like an instant and an eternity. Soon, others were surrounding us, working on getting my dad back to a room and calling 911. Everything was a blur, and I was a mess at the thought of being so close to losing my dad. Through all of the chaos, I distinctly remember Nurse Jackie giving information, checking charts, running supplies, and still taking the time to stop and give me a much-needed hug amidst the madness.
I truly believe she saved my dad's life that day, she is our angel in scrubs. A couple of weeks later, my dad had another (what was determined to be afib & aflutter) episode outside of a car dealership, and because of what I saw Nurse Jackie do to save him a mere 12 days earlier, I was able to do the same thing and bring him back to us while the ambulance was still on its way.
Nurse Jackie, I hope you know how much your kind heart and commitment to your job positively impact this world. Our world would be vastly, and tragicly different without you. Thank you!
