Quality leadership is not an easy thing to come by, but charge nurse, Jaime Abell is deserving of the DAISY Award due to her proactive nature. She exercised professional judgment while keeping me informed as I sat impatiently awaiting for my mother to come out of her 14-hour surgery. Ms Abell went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable by bringing us coffee and graham crackers at 4:15am, after having been waiting in the visiting room since 6:30 am the previous morning. Ms Abell would come by to give us updates and even called the OR to inquire of any status updates. At the moment when it seemed like I had almost given up she took time to comfort me. Ms Abell explained to me clearly how normal procedure works and she answered all of my questions and concerns with ease. She assisted my escalating nervousness and impatience by assuring me that my mother was in the best surgical hands. She encouraged me to remain positive and helpful and would alert me if there were any problems, or issues she noticed. I am grateful for how caring and professional this leader always motivated me to keep my spirits up. And with great honor I recommend this nurse for the DAISY Award.
