On 3/2 a patient came to the ER and had to have a CT w/contrast. The patient recently gave birth on 2/25. She was a mother who breastfed. She did not own a breast pump at home and was a mother of 3 who could not afford one.
Because she had contrast she could not breastfeed for 24 hours and had to "pump & dump". Jamie Kuklok and Jaimie Sawyer called central supply at SM and RRMC and no pumps were available. They then called L&D who also had none available.
The J's went to Walmart and bought the patient a breast pump and some onesies. They did this on their own and with their own money. These two nurses truly have hearts of gold and always go above and beyond. The patient was able to go home knowing her newborn would be safe from any contrast.
