Every time Jim comes to the pediatric floor I learn a new evidenced-based practice, a new method, and the reasoning behind these methods. Parents love the time Jim spends working with the kiddos and parents. Navigating diabetes in adolescence is scary, and overwhelming, but Jim has amazing techniques that minimize how scary pokes and needles are for kids. He's encouraging, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. We've had a lot of new onset diabetic kids on the pediatric floor recently and Jim is here, he follows up, he spends hours in rooms working with families and children. He explains carb counting, needle positioning, he works with siblings, he discusses food choices, and signs and symptoms to watch for. I cannot express how valuable Jim is to pediatric patients. I always feel confident in the care he provides, he's a safe clinician, very compassionate, and just embodies the Wesley spirit. I am so grateful to learn from Jim, to work alongside him, and if he doesn't epitomize the definition of nursing, I don't know who does.
Jim is extraordinary in every way. A while back his own mother was a patient at Wesley, and still, every day he was here making sure the pediatric patients were taken care of. Jim is a wonderful nurse and resource for pediatric nurses, families, care providers, and patients. I'm thankful for his care and devotion to the profession we all love so much.
