In addition to our usual patient population, PACU prepares, recovers, and supports women who have had a miscarriage for surgery and supports their their loved ones. While our team delivers care in a compassionate and professional manner, Jan recognized the need for further support. She sought help from our partners in WIC, who provided contacts and presented at the Periop team meetings. Jan also procured materials for "care packages", including books and pamphlets and some resources from the Caleb Foundation. Jan then secured funding from our Mission Department for the care package materials and created guidelines for providing the packages to our patients prior to their discharge to home.

In her desire to address a real need, Jan exemplified our mission of "Healing all people with compassion, faith, and excellence".
