Jane was happy to see me far more frequently than normal and without her, I am not sure whether our pregnancy would have had such a happy outcome.
Jane has gone above and beyond for both of my recent pregnancies. My first pregnancy had a number of complications for both my baby and myself and, to be honest, we didn’t know whether the baby would be okay but Jane supported me throughout. She was kind, knowledgeable and the most reassuring presence during this horrendous time made even worse by all the restrictions of Covid. Jane was happy to see me far more frequently than normal and without her, I am not sure whether our pregnancy would have had such a happy outcome. Jane noticed an issue with my liver from my blood which hadn’t been picked up by the hospital and luckily sent me for further checks, where the consultant then decided I would need to be induced earlier than originally planned (due to the worries about my baby I already had a date booked).
Unfortunately, my delivery wasn’t straightforward and without going into all the details, after I was discharged my recovery was not easy. I had a badly broken down perineum but again, it was thanks to Jane that this was escalated and her aftercare was fantastic.
For my second pregnancy, I was relieved that she was again in charge of my care and she was absolutely wonderful again. Jane organised extra appointments with consultants to discuss my birthing options and her knowledge really put me at ease. Her help with my birth plan meant that the midwives were completely prepared and knew of my history for my delivery and the aftercare she gave me was second to none. Jane has been incredible and even put me in touch with another mother in my village who is now one of my best friends- just another example of her doing more than just her job. I feel extremely lucky to have been under her wonderful care and just hope she gets some of the recognition she deserves!
