My mother passed away in 2016, and only a few months later my father started having some health issues. After repeated visits to the ED, consults with Urology and two procedures with the same urologist he was finally on the mend. I was by his side for the majority of visits/procedures and had the pleasure of meeting Jane Hartzell when we were visiting Central Vermont Urology. I had heard about Jane throughout the years as being a spectacular RN but now had the pleasure of meeting her myself. Every visit she took the time to keep us informed, answer so many questions and reassure us that things were in fact improving. Sometime during the course of treatment, she found out that my mother had recently passed. My uncle accompanied my father to his final appointment at Central Vermont Urology and I quickly found out that while there, Jane sat with them and asked them to share more about Mom. They told her story after story and she responded to them with compassion and honest, open arms. Both my father and uncle called me, raving about Jane and expressing how much it meant to them for her to take the time to hear more about mom and support their obvious emotions during that conversation. I received an email from Jane shortly after hearing about the appointment, and while that email is quite personal on both our parts, I carry it with me and read her words often, "Many smiles and tears and tales ensued, and I could begin to fathom what an exceptional, vibrant, lovable person she was." While I can repeatedly thank Jane, no words can express the appreciation we have towards her.
