My first surgical experience. I walked into Tacoma General for a procedure, not knowing what to expect. As a Detective, one would assume that I don't experience fear. However, this is not the case and far from the truth. From the moment I arrived I was greeted by staff that went above and beyond in all aspects. From the polite folks in registration, to the sweet volunteer who escorted my wife and I, and the doctor who helped me feel reassured. There was one nurse that I believe should be recognized for her kindness and for going above and beyond. Her name is Janet, and I will never forget the level of care she provided me. She was patient and gentle and took the time to explain every step of the process. It's apparent to me that Janet became a nurse because she genuinely cares for her patients. I know the job of a healer is not easy and can often be ridiculed. I want Janet to know that her hard work and kindness did not go unnoticed. Tacoma General Hospital is blessed to have Janet, and I am blessed to have met her. I will never forget how she made me feel. Thank you, Janet, from the very bottom of my heart.
