My wife has been in and out of the hospital for 2 months with multiple strokes that started a week after our wedding. Jarrod has been her nurse for a few days, and in that couple of days they have had an incredibly positive impact on her care and comfort. They go above and beyond to make sure she's comfortable and getting the best possible care. My wife struggles with chronic pain, and Jarrod goes out of their way to check on her pain levels, even though it's not related to the strokes, and ensure that her meds keep the pain under control. They took extra time to go over the stroke education with my wife and have been very diligent in making notes of any unusual symptoms she reports and checking up on those symptoms. Doctors have not been able to find a diagnosis yet, so this extra attention to documenting and tracking is a huge help in making sure the doctors have all the information. They have been kind, comforting, and make us both feel very secure that the hospital is taking both her help and comfort seriously.

During this time, an abusive family member of my wife's has been sneaking into the hospital and sending their friends, managing to get in despite my wife asking for no unapproved visitors. The last time the family member got into the room, Jarrod was extremely helpful while also being extremely professional. As soon as I alerted them, they came and asked the family member to leave so they could start a neuro exam that would take a long time. They were able to keep the whole situation calm and get the family member out, and then turned their attention to helping my wife with the anxiety that was triggered, got her aromatherapy, and was very comforting. They have been very careful to help us prevent this person from getting in again and have also been very reassuring that they and the hospital staff will do whatever they can to keep that person out.

My wife expressed that she would very, very much like to see Jarrod recognized for their dedication and care, and we hope that you will award them the DAISY. Good nurses make all the difference, and Jarrod is the definition of a good nurse.
