It takes someone very special to do what she does. Jaycee put her hand on my shoulder. She is just a wonderful nurse and does her job well.
I want to tell you about an experience I had with my mother. My mom was a registered nurse and in October she agreed to go to the ER for she was not feeling well. They put her on oxygen and tried all different kinds of techniques. She just could not keep her oxygen level up. She was sitting up and said, "Well, I am 89 years old and I am not going to get any better, so I want to end my life." That was a blow to us. She had Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoporosis and she was miserable. The staff moved her to the end of life floor. My dad and I waited until they had her situated. When we walked into the room, the one nurse introduced herself, and that was Jaycee. She was going to be her nurse. I was shocked; my mom has a Cockatiel named JC, short for my parents' firsts names. I told my mom, "Hey your nurse's name is JC." When I looked at Jaycee, she looked like an angel to me. My mom, dad, and I talked until 9:00 PM, and Mom said, we better get going. Mom told me that she loved me and I said I loved her too. At 11:10 PM, Jaycee called and said that Mom took a turn for the worse and that her heart was getting faint. If we wanted to come in and spend the rest of the time with her that we could. My dad and I went in and we arrived just in time. Mom did not know we were there. Dad and I each held one of her hands and talked to her. Jaycee did say she never left her side and that when she could talk my mom told her of her nursing experiences. The end was coming near around 12:45 AM. I just kept telling Mom you could do this, you are almost there. I told her that a few times and then she was gone. She was not in any pain anymore. I thanked Jaycee for being her nurse and she did not say a word.
You need more nurses like Jaycee. It takes someone very special to do what she does. Jaycee put her hand on my shoulder. She is just a wonderful nurse and does her job well. My mom passed away from Congestive Heart Failure, fluids filled her lungs. Then my dad was in the hospital just days later and I talked to someone about Jaycee. I told them I would like to contact her to thank her again. They contacted her and then she came. I told her about my dad and just wanted to thank her again for being with my mom. It meant a lot to my dad and me. He passed away from a stroke. They passed away 10 days apart. They were married for 67 years. I had a brother pass away earlier this year from Lymphoid Cancer and a best friend pass away from battling breast cancer this year also. I was with my parents to the very end and I do not regret one thing.
