Jerry comes to work every day with the intent of putting patient safety and healing as his top goals. He continually helps to educate new nurses, along with student nurses on how to prevent common errors and create a spirit of critical thinking for new employees. One time, Jerry got off of a hectic day shift and drove to a patient's house to deliver a prescription that was forgotten at their discharge. Without Jerry, the patient would have had to come back to the hospital or wait longer for a pain Rx. Jerry sits and talks with those in need. My favorite thing about Jerry is that I have never heard him complain, he is the partner you want to work with because he gets things done and then we celebrate our accomplishments.
Jerry treats every patient with the exact standard of care and compassion as he would his own family. One patient just wanted to be taken to see a better view out the window; Jerry took the time out of a busy day shift to get a wheelchair to get the patient into an elevator to a higher floor.
If there was one nurse I could pick to take care of my sick family member, it would be Jerry.
