She made me feel comfortable and valued as a woman veteran receiving care in the Pink Clinic.
It was my first in-person clinic visit with my primary care physician since the pandemic began. I wanted to make sure that I was on time for my appointment. Upon arriving at the VAMC, I found the nearest parking space that I could, but it was still far away from the clinic for me. You see, I'm a 63-year-old woman with mobility problems. However, despite my mobility issues, I decided that I would walk as fast as I could to get to my appointment on time. I arrived there on time, but when Nurse Adams took my vitals, she noticed that my pulse was quite elevated. When I told her that I had been rushing to get to my appointment on time, she assured me that I could have taken my time because she surely would have waited for me and not turned me away had I been late. She spoke to me in a very calm and supportive manner. After a few minutes when she took my pulse again, she was pleased to inform me that my pulse rate had significantly decreased. She told me there was no need for me to run a marathon and get my heart rate up so high to get to my appointment. She made me feel comfortable and valued as a woman veteran receiving care in the Pink Clinic. Her attitude was very pleasant and showed that she cared. I was very pleased with the care I received, and the role Nurse Adams played in it. I appreciate the skilled and compassionate care that was provided to me.
