My father has had some good nurses during his stay at the Miami Valley Hospital during the month of June. Of all the nurses that have been associated with my father's care, Jeff Horn stood head and shoulders above all the others. Jeff's concern for my dad's care was obvious from the moment he first walked into the room. Jeff was very responsive to all the questions we (the family and my dad) had. He would spend time to answer our questions in layman's terms and wanted to make sure that we understood. He never made us feel as though we were bothering him or preventing him from doing something else. He would also spend a great deal of time comforting Dad and making sure Dad was at ease with procedures to be performed. Jeff always had a smile on his face when he walked into the room. The few times Dad asked to see him, Jeff was very quick to respond. Jeff treated Dad like he was his only patient.
When Dad was moved from the ICU to the sixth floor, Jeff escorted Dad to his new room and spent time with him to make sure everything was set up and that Dad was comfortable in his new surroundings. When Jeff left to return to ICU, he mentioned that he would be available to return and assist with getting Dad out of bed if additional muscle was required to support getting Dad into a chair.
Jeff Horn was a true blessing during my father's stay in the ICU and is a model for other nurses to emulate. Thank you, Jeff!
