When my husband was admitted into the hospital with chest pains, it was a very scary experience due to him having by-pass surgery in 2004. A bigger challenge is the fact that he also has Alzheimer's disease. After receiving excellent care in the ER, we were transferred to the second floor and met by one of the best nurses we have ever met, Jeff Johnson. Jeff checked us in and made sure we were comfortable. He not only made sure he was comfortable, he also got a bed for me so that I could sleep next to him so he wouldn't be scared, since he can't be left alone. I was so impressed by the fact that Jeff treated him as a human being that needed help and not just someone with Alzheimer's disease.

Jeff went out of his way to make sure both of us were well taken care of and we watched him do the same for the other patients under his care as well. Nursing is an extremely hard and demanding job and Jeff made it look easy; the hospital should have him train the other nurses!

His team was excellent and seemed to really enjoy working with Jeff. We feel he has a natural ability for nursing and seems to have found his true calling. We will never forget him or his kindness and only hope to one day be able to repay that kindness to him.

We feel his is truly deserving of this award and hope you will recognize him not only for the excellent care he provided, but also for how he made us feel.
