An elderly patient of Dr. C's came into the office for a follow-up visit today. He is in his 80s, lives alone and goes to dialysis three days a week. His only child lives in Chicago. He is in case management. When asked last summer what kind of help he needed, he said he just wanted someone to cook him home cooked meals like a pot roast. That really resonated with Jeff and he said that wouldn't be that hard to do. Every time the patient's name came up over the past few months, Jeff talked about that pot roast. Jeff called the patient yesterday to remind him of his appointment today. When the appointment was confirmed, Jeff had a plan and brought in a cooked pot roast with potatoes and carrots to give to the patient! How heartwarming this act of kindness is. Needless to say, the patient was very appreciative.
