I woke up under confusing circumstances and struggled to remember the events leading up to that moment. Jeffrey Kiser kept me calm and made sure I was comfortable, as well as pain-free while in the ICU, and coming back to myself. I remained under his care as the head nurse for about a week and I was impressed that he was able to display the same level of care, attention, and empathy every time we had an interaction. Not only that, but he would make sure I had everything I needed on his own accord, going the extra mile to ask if he could do anything else to help my stay be more pleasant. 

In my opinion, that is an extraordinary display of character, given that he had many other patients under his care. As a patient, being in the hospital can be stressful, and feeling like an inconvenience to others plays a large role. I’ve had several other visits to the hospital and some of these visits were not pleasant/very negative. If I recall one of Sentara’s slogans is “We improve health every day." When you have employees like Jeffrey Kiser who align with the company’s overall goal, others will follow and hopefully make everyone’s stay more pleasant.
