I was hardly able to process and move my body at the time, but she gave me the best accommodation to the "Golden Hour" I so desperately had hoped for.
While giving birth, I experienced a placental abruption, leading to me losing more than half my blood and requiring several interventions to keep me alive. While I may not remember/understand much of what happened, what I do know is that very shortly after I was no longer intubated, Jen made it possible to do skin to skin with my baby boy by her physically holding him to me AND helping him latch to breastfeed. I was hardly able to process and move my body at the time, but she gave me the best accommodation to the "Golden Hour" I so desperately had hoped for. Jen went out of her way to make that possible, and to check in on me later in the ICU and as my care support in Mom & Baby. My husband actually jokes that the whole time he thought her name was "Joy" because that's the energy she brings and gives to others. She knew exactly how to bring comfort to me in such a scary time, and I don't know how to thank her enough for her part in my healing journey. Thank you, Jen, for helping me to have hope.
