Jenna works hard for her patients, meeting their every need. So when we had two people who were engaged and in a motorcycle accident that went to surgery at different times one day, she did just that. Jenna frequently updated each person on how the other patient was doing. These two patients had planned for months to get married Saturday, but when their accident led them to be hospitalized and needing surgery it looked like that was not going to happen.
Jenna helped the two patients plan their wedding at Mt. Carmel. She called managers, directors, doctors, Sister Barbara, and Nursing Supervisors to set a time for their wedding to take place in MCW chapel. So when one fiancé was in one room and the other in another room she made the decision to room them together in one of our semi-private rooms. This helped each of the patients calm down. The doctor said the patients could leave the floor, but would need a nurse to go with them. The two patients would need their own wheelchair and need to be pushed down to the chapel on their wedding day, and therefore, Jenna came in on her day off and dressed for the occasion, too.
Jenna went the extra mile in every aspect. Besides calling all the upper management she also coordinated a cake from the Cafeteria. Then, she took the cake and sparkling toast to the chapel for the guests to enjoy. She helped turn around a sad situation into a memorable one.
