She observed signs of a possible stroke, including facial drooping, blood on the coworker's face, and an inability to speak. Without hesitation, she ensured he was transported to the emergency room without delay.
A potentially life-threatening situation unfolded in CORE D when one of our coworkers was found unresponsive in the bathroom at 5:45 a.m. Due to the early hour, few staff members were present. However, Jennifer, who was just entering work and about to clock in, demonstrated exceptional courage and quick thinking that made all the difference. When alerted to the situation, Jennifer immediately sprang into action. She observed signs of a possible stroke, including facial drooping, blood on the coworker's face, and an inability to speak. Without hesitation, she ensured he was transported to the emergency room without delay. Thanks to her rapid response, the stroke team was activated, and the IR team successfully performed a thrombectomy to remove the clots. By 2:00 p.m., the coworker was awake, talking, and moving all extremities in the neuro ICU. Remarkably, he was discharged home just three days later and has since returned to work. Jennifer's decisive actions and composure in this critical moment not only saved our coworker's life but also underscored the importance of vigilance and readiness in emergencies. Her heroism exemplifies the values of compassion, teamwork, and excellence that we strive to uphold every day. Thank you, Jennifer, for your remarkable contribution to our team and for making such a profound difference. You are truly an inspiration.
