My husband was moved to the Intensive Care Unit. His nurse was Jen Hamilton; we named her our guardian angel. Jen was not only a highly skilled nurse, she was so very compassionate! She readily explained and answered all our questions about meds and treatment, made sure we had water and chairs, and remembered all we shared with her about our family. On the day that my husband passed away, Jen was not his nurse but she came with the team when code was signaled and put her arms around me since no other family member was with me. She also used my phone to call our three sons, one of whom had just left a couple hours earlier to drive back to Chicago. Jen told him to pull off the road when he could safely do so, so she could tell him to turn around and come back because his father had passed away. Jen even came to the funeral home to pay her respects and see our family again. She will forever be in our hearts.
