Jenny Bauer, Nursing Education and Professional Development, received the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Bauer leads the Department of Nursing Education and Professional Development by collaborating and seeking opportunities to align nursing services throughout the enterprise, according to her colleagues and nominators — all of Nursing Education and Development.
Her nominator says Bauer works hard and is diligent in making changes to improve the efficiency of her department, and that one of Bauer's strengths is being transparent in communication with staff.
"Jenny takes her role seriously in creating solutions that will not waste staff members' time or distract from bedside care," her nominator says.
According to her nominator, Bauer is compassionate, knowledgeable and constantly learning, all while ensuring the needs of the patient come first. Bauer exemplifies what it means to be a nurse by embracing change and looking at situations from patients' viewpoints to ensure their needs come first.
"I have not had a better leader over the past 37 years of my nursing career," her nominator says.
