He filled our hearts with hope and provided so much knowledge during our time together. We are so grateful for nurses such as Jeremiah, who are professional yet immensely compassionate during these challenging times.
We had the pleasure of having our baby girl under the care of NICU nurse Jeremiah Court and we are incredibly grateful for him. From the start of the weekend, Jeremiah was present through one of the most challenging mornings for our daughter, M. M was preparing for surgery when the NICU doctor had complications with a procedure. My husband walked in to see physicians giving her chest compressions and having all the unit nurses present in her room. It was a sight no parent ever wants to see. M was taken to the OR where the pediatric surgeon was able to successfully complete the procedure. After that experience, Jeremiah approached my husband and offered his support. His level of compassion was beyond what we could ask, speaking to us and caring for our daughter like family. The entire weekend Jeremiah was on duty, we collaborated with him to find ways to connect with M. He ensured we were part of all hands-on duties and provided instructions and guidance on how to best care for her. Jeremiah even gave my husband a diaper with a note to remember how small M was when Daddy changed her first diaper. It is the kind of keepsake we will cherish forever. Yet the most memorable experience was on Jeremiah’s last day with M for the week. He advocated for us to have an opportunity for skin-to-skin with her. He explained it would be a challenging process, but with adequate personnel present, it would be possible. We waited a few hours and Jeremiah’s shift ended. Even then, we fully trusted his direction and waited patiently. After nearly 6 hours, we were approved to transfer M for skin-to-skin. My husband and I cherished her for the whole hour we were together. It was such a special moment that will live in our hearts forever. Jeremiah cared for M for four days and made such a positive impact on our lives. He filled our hearts with hope and provided so much knowledge during our time together. We are so grateful for nurses such as Jeremiah, who are professional yet immensely compassionate during these challenging times. After reviewing the DAISY Award brochure, we knew Jeremiah deserved this award. Thank you for all that you do each day for our loved ones.
