Jeremiah promptly attended to my grandmother, communicated with her in a kind and compassionate way, and treated her with dignity and respect.
My 85-year-old grandmother was a patient at UNC Hospital for about one week. This was her third hospital stay of the month and we as a family were very concerned with her fragile state. When Jeremiah was assigned as her nurse my family immediately felt a sense of relief. Jeremiah promptly attended to my grandmother, communicated with her in a kind and compassionate way, and treated her with dignity and respect.
My grandmother’s illness shocked my entire family to the core – my grandmother has always been very healthy, independent, and full of energy. She has a very active social life so it was no surprise that during her hospital stay, she had upwards of four visitors almost every day! Anytime that a new family member or friend was visiting, Jeremiah took the time to communicate with each of us individually, answer all of our questions (including those that she had already answered for other visitors many times over), and help us to comprehend her current state. It was the first time during my grandmother’s medical journey that we felt welcome to participate in her care, rather than a burden.
On top of that, Jeremiah is an exceptionally skilled nurse. There was one particularly difficult day when my grandmother needed immediate medical support. Jeremiah appeared instantly, addressed the situation with swift and precise attention, communicated promptly with the medical team, and stabilized my grandmother. During this heightened time of anxiety for all of us, Jeremiah remained calm and confident. Jeremiah is a wonderful nurse with such a big heart. We as a family continue to reflect on and praise the care that she provided to my grandmother. She will remain in our hearts for a lifetime.
