My friend was a patient on unit 650 for several days up until his death. Being hospitalized is hard, but it is extremely difficult for the person in transition and their family who are charged with helping him on his way. I found Jeremy, and other staff helping to facilitate this change.
Jeremy impressed me with his knowledge, skill of nursing, caring and courteousness. The unit floor was busy, but he was fully focused, took the necessary time for the task at hand, and was respectful of my friend, the patient. This made things easier for all of us. He was in charge, he introduced himself to us, informed us it was okay to come to him with anything. When a family member made a request, he saw that it was followed through. I am so thankful a Nurse of his caliber was in charge. Unfortunately this is not the first time I have been through this, and although I know it is “Just life”, this was the best staff I have dealt with because of their professionalism, competency and compassion.
This is the typical type of care, concern, and professionalism that Jeremy displays every day, whether he is in charge or taking a patient assignment. He exemplifies the type of nurse worthy of the DAISY Award.
