In the early afternoon, my sick wife and I were greeted by a very pleasant nurse by the name of Jerry, who arrived with special equipment to start an IV on my wife's arm. Before the procedure, my wife informed Jerry that it was almost impossible to draw blood from her vein and that many medical experts ran into difficulty doing so - something I have witnessed and can attest to. After patiently hearing her out, Jerry calmly and clearly described his experience in this field as well as how the unique equipment would be used. After this conversation, we felt confident enough to give him permission to perform his task and Jerry successful started an IV in my wife. When you view the three statements laid out as the criteria for the DAISY award, Jerry has exceeded the standard. We are singing praises of Jerry and his special and unique equipment but we admired Jerry most of all. Jerry, "You are the special and unique piece of equipment and your heart to serve".
