Jessica said you are not going anywhere, she set up an emergency MRI to see what was going on. The MRI showed I had a perforated colon, and I was headed for emergency surgery.
I entered the Northside Cherokee Hospital, and the ED was extremely full, I felt fortunate to have ED Space while they checked my condition and decided to check me in.
I was in extreme pain and was placed on the 6th floor. Jessica was so attentive to my pain and condition while the doctors determined what they were going to do. I had a CT scan and flexible sig. The doctor scheduled surgery for a fistula- After surgery, Jessica continued to ensure I was as comfortable as could be. The wound care nurse had been by to ensure we knew how to take care of my new wounds on my butt.
Days later, we were told we should prepare to check out of the hospital, they needed the bed. As I was getting dressed, Jessica was there with the wheelchair, she asked me how I was feeling, I said ok, she said you don't look so good. She checked my feet and informed us they were mottled, my stomach was barreled, and my oxygen level was very low. Jessica had me do a couple of tests to check my oxygen level. She elevated my condition to the rapid response team.

I had emergency surgery that day and recovered on the 7th floor, and checked out a week later. If it was not for Jessica double-checking my vitals and overall conditions as I was being prepped for discharge, I would have been back at our rural home 40 minutes away, and don't think I would have survived a trip back to the ED.
I am so grateful to have had a nurse like Jessica, who really cares for her patient’s well-being and quality of care.
Thank you Northside for recognizing one of your BEST, Jessica Javed!
Jessica is referred to as our Angel Nurse!
