She stood out as a highly knowledgeable, experienced, and compassionate nurse.
Having had a stroke before, plus having a brain aneurysm, and being a high-risk patient, my aunt had many loved ones on the edge of their seats waiting for the results of her surgery. Thankfully, our surgeon was clearly skillful and communicative, and the surgery was completed with no complications. Every nurse that we worked with did their job, but one nurse stood out as one of the best I've ever experienced. Despite clearly being busy at all times, Jessica never seemed bothered, and displayed some of the best hospitality I've ever seen. I'm so thankful to have had her as a nurse after my aunt's discectomy. The patient we shared a room with was, at times, pretty rude and uncooperative. Still, Jessica was never swayed and was ONLY extremely respectful and professional.
At one point, my aunt was very confused and started asking me questions that made no sense. I told Jessica this, as I was concerned given her history of strokes, and Jessica was extremely quick to respond. She immediately performed tests and checked to make sure nothing was wrong. She knew that I didn't want my aunt to know that I told her about her about it (my aunt would have been mad at me), and she proceeded to reassure me that she was okay without tipping off my aunt.
I myself have had surgery at Wilson, and have not had a bad experience... however, Jessica's performance is commendable, and I'm SO glad she was there during a time that was very hard for our family. She stood out as a highly knowledgeable, experienced, and compassionate nurse, and I can only hope she continues in this field because she is an incredible asset to UHS.
