Red cleaned her face, wiped her eyes after putting drops in, and talked with her to comfort her.
Jessica "Red" Claassen is a seasoned RN, and her ICU and ED experience have attributed to her clinical strength, but perhaps her greatest asset is the empathy with which she practices, day after day, patient after patient. Through her compassionate care, Red is able to quickly establish a rapport with her patients and their families, and it is this connection that allows her to provide them emotional support when needed most. Red is a "DAISY", blooming even when conditions may not be the most conducive.
*****
I am writing this DAISY Award nomination fresh out of leaving the hospital and through tears because I just lost my mother. It is NEVER easy when anyone loses a loved one but the loss of my mother is so heartbreaking.
Red deserves this award for more reasons than what I can put down on paper. Red treated my mom as if she was her ONLY patient. As my mom transitioned through stages of her passing, Red cleaned her face, wiped her eyes after putting drops in, and talked with her to comfort her and me, her daughter.
CCIRH has an angel in human flesh in Red. Red took her time with my mom and took her gentle soul and time to soothe my daughter's pain and sadness. It was an honor and a Godsend to have Red as a pillar of peace, strength, and love shown to me and my mom during her passing!
