Jess was my preceptor this summer at St. Dominic's Hospital. I am a nursing student who has never considered working in the emergency department, but she changed my perspective. She has only been a nurse for one year, but seeing her work ethic doesn't make it seem like it's only been a year. She is a very hard and dedicated worker who went above and beyond for every patient that we took care of this summer. If I were to be admitted into the emergency department, I would request her to be my nurse in a heartbeat. Many people choose to become nurses for the money or for other reasons but I know that Jess was meant to become a nurse. I'm not nominating her because she was my preceptor but because I've seen personal experience of what an amazing nurse she truly is. She always went out of her way to help our other fellow colleagues and always made sure her patients were satisfied before leaving them.
