Jessica went way above and beyond to help a team member who wanted to come and help her team be successful on that night.
On a Sunday evening, I received a text from one of our CNAs. Her car gave out, and she was on the side of the road. She let me know she was still going to try to make it to work for her 7p shift. A little while later the CNA called almost in tears, she hadn't been able to get a tow or a family member to get her. She really needed to come to work, but she wasn't going to make it, I told her to call PCLC and the unit and to be safe. A few minutes later, I received a text from the CNA stating that she was going to work. I acknowledged her text message. A little while later, I received a text from our day ANM asking if it was ok for her to stay until Jessica, our night ANM got back from picking the CNA up because she didn't want to leave the unit down a nurse and a CNA, I told her it was fine. The next morning when I came in, I reminded our night ANM that we needed to do her performance evaluation before she left, she stated, "I am almost done with report, I'll be there in a few because I have to take the CNA home."
When we think of Baptist and the caliber of team members we work with, we say we are a family. I have the pleasure of working with an elite group of team members. The T5 family has a strong foundation, we don't just talk about who we are, we show others how tightly knit we truly are at Baptist. Jessica not only went to pick our CNA up to get her off the side of the road to bring her to work, she took her back home the next day. This CNA lives in Georgia. So, this wasn't a "I'll drop you off on my way moment, this was an "I care about you and you are a part of our family and we look out for one another." Jessica went way above and beyond to help a team member who wanted to come and help her team be successful on that night.
This type of dedication and commitment is what we look for in a leader. Jessica is an Extraordinary Nurse, leader, and team member, and because she went above and beyond to help her teammate, she deserves to be recognized for the amazing job that she does to contribute to the success of our team in her role as a leader on our unit.
