We had an infant pass away at Winter Haven Women's Hospital not too long ago, which (thankfully) is not a regular occurrence for us. Jessica was working that night and assisted in both the code and taking care of the baby after he came to the NICU. This baby was born to a drug-abusing mother, who had (seemingly) little concern for what was happening at the time. Jessica cared for this baby with love and respect and treated the family members the same way when they came to the bedside. The family made the decision to leave the bedside before the baby passed away, and Jessica held him until that time came. She rocked him and talked to him with tears in her eyes, making sure that his last moments were filled with love and care. I know that was incredibly hard for her, but she put that baby's needs above her own, and I'm so incredibly proud of her for that. She is a true gift to our NICU!
