Jessica displayed amazing critical thinking skills, remained calm, and provided excellent nursing care during a critical emergency. Jessica was the only nurse staffed on the OBSCU, caring for multiple patients away from the rest of the team and providers. When the patient called out from the bathroom, Jess assessed the patient and quickly recognized a prolapsed cord, a true obstetric emergency. Jess was able to safely reduce the cord, get the patient back to bed, mobilize the emergency team, and then stay on the bed with the patient the whole time. Jessica's actions kept the mom and the twins safe and in the operating room in an extremely timely fashion. Her demeanor and communication skills were pivotal to the safe delivery of these preterm twins.
